The Power of Surrender
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”
You have an enemy who wants to shut your mouth. Satan is a bully and intimidation of God’s daughter is his key strategy to confine and strangle you. His greatest fear is that the bride of Christ will truly believe who the Word of God proclaims she is and whose she is! She will fly from her previous crippled state in a restricted pot and wield her sword—the sword of the Lord. Even the thought of such an occurrence sends shivers down Satan’s spine. So, he opens his satchel of tricks and begins his poisonous assault on the lioness of God. Guilt, shame, fear, bitterness, resentment, self-hatred, unbelief and doubt of God’s truth and love are some of his favorite weapons. You’ll hear yourself say, “Me? God couldn’t love me. Other people, yes but He doesn’t love me.”
Friends with good intentions may shake you and say, “Pick up your bed and walk!” Others may shout, “Shake the dust off your feet. The devil is a liar!” My children used to tell me, in the wisdom of their teenage years, “Get a life!” This is great counsel but I tell you that before you can pick up your bed and walk you must lay at His feet! Before you can give the devil his marching papers, you must submit to God’s Word and speak His truth into your life. You must come as a child—worship Jesus Christ and allow Him to wrap you in His love. Surrender is what moves the heart of God. It carriers you higher! At the foot of the cross, the bonsai pot is shattered… the enemy’s lies are put to death… and you are empowered by God’s grace to reach for the stars and hope again! How powerful is a life surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ!
A young maiden from Nazareth realizing that scandal would surface, surrendered her rights, before—she became the beloved mother of our Lord and Savior.
Mary of Bethany, unhindered by her sister’s ridicule, sat at the feet of Jesus before– He poured His best upon her.
Ruth the Moabite, humbled herself at the feet of Boaz, a figure of Christ, and cried out, “Cover me, for you are my near kinsman!” before—she held God’s promise in her arms.
Come to Jesus—bow before Him—be restored! He waits for you now.
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
I will continue this message next week and share my life changing moments at my Savior’s feet.
