Week 5 – Dancing with the King – Part 2
“Let me hear your voice; for sweet is your voice and you countenance is lovely.”
Song of Solomon 2:14
Facing a future filled with only broken dreams was not the place God had called me. The heaviness in my heart had seized all hope. But in the midst of the despondent emotions I felt a strong urge to attend a special worship service.
The singers kept repeating the phrase, “Let Me see your face, let Me hear your voice, you are lovely to Me.” At that moment—in an instant—I knew I was His. I knew I was loved. I knew I had value… I had a bright future!
No greater love
The Song of Solomon is not just a collection of beautiful poetry that merits admiration. It is your Beloved calling to you, “Run with Me.” It is a revelation of a God who longs for a people he can live with intimately! Oh yes, it is the perfect picture of marriage—the loving husband and his sought after bride. But the even grander picture reveals the boundless love of God who pursued his bride to the point of a tortured death on a cross. He is still pursuing you this day. His desire to embrace you and dance with you remains passionate.
I can only imagine!
Daughter, greatly loved and cherished, close your eyes and imagine that you are in a vast dance hall. All those attending are dressed in finery that defines royalty. The palace is grand and is adorned exquisitely. You are clothed in a dress prepared for a princess and you sit shyly, hoping for a chance to dance with a prince. And then He comes! He eyes beheld you from afar and He has been watching you carefully. But now He extends his hand and asks, “May I have the pleasure of this dance?” His shoulders are broad…His build is solid. He eyes are like pools of liquid love and He has not a worry in the world. His smile is full of comfort and expresses abandoned joy.
One glimpse of His face and your cares melt away.
All of His desire is for you!
I hear Him calling your name! Run, daughter, run!
