Rescued from a Lie

Rescued from a Lie

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:32 (NIV)

Great darkness hung over me. Jeering voices mocked my worthless state and foretold my hollow future.

Your best days are over. What you thought was a new season with new purpose is just a pipe dream.
Wake up and get real. Your life is a waste land. You’re not needed…you’re not wanted.
The votes have been counted and you received zero.

And I believed this lie

A passive mind is the devil’s play room. His favorite toys are deception and destruction. He is able to achieve his morbid assignment by subtly convincing you to deny or question Christ’s authority—hath God said? Such was my case. I was giving credence to a falsehood, by evidence of my circumstances. Sadly, I had forsaken God’s truth. All hell had unleashed a flood of despair, and I was acknowledging the lies and calling it truth.

Operation of the enemy

Know your enemy. He is a fierce bully. Once you are washed in the precious blood of Jesus, once you have given your heart to follow, you are instantly a target. Satan does not know the plans God has for your life but what he does know is this. God’s purpose—God’s destiny concerning you—will be the demise of his kingdom.

Rescued–given a new song!

In my state of oppression, I began to call upon the Lord. I knew He was my only hope…my best friend. Speaking ever so softly, as so often He does…usually does, I felt impressed to open my Bible. I began reading the many Psalms I had come to love… a glimmer of hope arose. I then wrote down the scriptures in which the Holy Spirit spoke encouragement to my beaten and wounded soul. His truth was slowly becoming my truth.  All the while, I knew He was there and my anticipation of His voice led me to yet another step. I stood up—in the middle of the darkened room—and spoke the verses aloud. My heart beat faster. I read the verses a second time. My heartbeat was gathering force. I spoke them a third time and the taunts which had imprisoned me were smashed to smitherings! The Holy Spirit rescued me and put a new song in my heart.

You have read this because you are chosen…
Chosen and not forgotten
You have read this because your God is calling…
Calling you—His fabulous daughter
To believe—be rescued!
