Beauty for Ashes

The wrong picture

Heaven was all a dither. The Creator displayed such anxiety…such frustration. He was sweating bullets. Frantically pacing, God cast a worried gaze upon the wretched sight of two forlorn widows. Ruth and Naomi were returning to Israel. Everything was against them. They were poorer than poor with no formal education. They had no connections with influential people, no welcoming family and worst of all—they were women. All they had—was God.
The Almighty wrung His holy hands. “Oh, what shall I do now? The desperation of their plight is a challenge—even for me.”

The real picture

Why, that’s ridiculous, you say. Are you sitting down?—it’s a picture of us! But listen. Even before leaving Moab—even before Ruth surrendered all—even before hearts were mended—God had a plan. While they were still in captivity…still in Moab…still in deep, dark sorrow, God had arranged beauty for their ashes.
Can God restore, after your dreams come crashing down? Can your future shine with favor when your reputation has been marred by illicit choices? Can God take excruciating sorrow and redeem beyond your wildest hopes? He did for Ruth and Naomi…He did for me…and He will for you. Hang on to the power packed words of the Bible. Speak its truth.  You’ll have a new spring in your step.

The rest of the story

“And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, ‘Let me go to the fields
and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor
Ruth 2:2(NIV)

Naomi had carefully taught Ruth about God’s provision for widows. Any of the left over grain was hers to glean.

They would not starve—the time had come!

Ruth looked earnestly into the older woman’s face. “The green fields are gleaming, Mother. I must go. God will give me favor in a farmer’s field… I just know it. I will return tonight with grain. God has promised. I must go.”

She had spoken the language of heaven. God was ready!

He would honor His Word.

“So Ruth went out to the fields… picking up the heads of grain which they left. It so happened that she was in a field that belonged to Boaz.”
Ruth 2:3 (GW)

Just keep praying…declaring His Word
Just keep taking steps…ordered by the Lord
God has a plan
A God breathed plan to give unto you beauty  for ashes

Isaiah 61:3

Hope is our turning point. “We know who we have believed and are persuaded that He is able to keep that which we have committed unto Him, until the day of Jesus Christ.”

This is the Lord’s favorite thing in all the world. it happens every time we surrender to the One who was crucified and rose triumphantly over the ashes of Calvary. I love you!
