When Heaven Leaps for Joy

DSC00423When Heaven Leaps for Joy!
Though the LORD is on high, he looks upon the    lowly, but the proud he knows from afar.”
Psalm 136:8

Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and breathed in deeply His words of life. Oh how wonderful to hear His Words, to behold His sweet face. I cannot bear to pull myself away. To pour my precious ointment on His dear feet is so small compared to the love He has poured upon me.

But the leaders that walked with Jesus thought her act wasteful, a poor example of management. They were too lofty, too proud to understand a woman’s love for her Savior. They were too caught up in the world’s system, what the world deemed correct, to comprehend the childlike zeal of a transformed life.

Mary’s beaming countenance quickly changed upon hearing the harsh, judgmental words of Christ’s followers. Would Jesus offer his critique as well? Would the One she had fallen in love with, also frown upon her extravagance? She hung her head, too afraid to look upon her Master.

But like a mother bear, that arises in fury against the prey of her young, so the carpenter of Nazareth rose up with righteous indignation against His pompous disciples. Oh at times, Jesus grew so weary of these floundering followers.

Leave her alone. Nothing hinders you from giving to the poor. But Me…I’ll be gone. I’ll be tortured and die… for you. Mary has done this work on Me and I treasure her devotion. Her testimony, her sweet sacrifice filled this room and will go around the world. This is what I desire This is what brings me joy. A life surrendered!

The disciples lowered their heads, and meekly offered their apologies to the now radiant and amazed woman. The shame they shared was sharp and cut to their very core. The Master was right…He was always right. They, the macho business men, were brought low by the Lord’s heart piercing truth.

Lift up your head, beloved daughter of the Most High God. Bow your knee without condemnation. Come as a child and worship your King. Let no man, or  depraved world view, dissuade your heart.

You, he desires. For you, He leaps over mountains–and comes. You, He rejoices over with singing. For you, He will turn heaven and earth, applaud your sweet fragrance and fill the world with His love!

      Dear One,
Thank you for your words of encouragement. I feel the safest place is hiding in Him, listening to His voice of calm, and shutting out all others clamoring, demanding my attention. I love you!

Learning to slow down and listen to the Lord. Leaning not to judge others. That’s what is so hard for most of us. Thank you, Margie, for reminding us of the truth.

    Dear Robbie,

I agree! Judgment robs our joy. We become our own God. Comparing our righteousness with the “mistakes” of others turns off the glow of Christ. Thank you for sharing and reminding me as well! I love you!
