First Love

“My beloved spake, and said unto me,

Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away”

Song of Solomon 2:10

Marguerite’s eyes shone. She was in love. His name was Edward—the first man ever—who was without flaw.

There was no conversation where her beloved’s name was not inserted into the exchange. If it was the weather, somehow Edward’s name would be come up. If it were hair styles, Edward would pop up again.  It didn’t matter. Marguerite was in love and her life was all about Edward this and Edward that. Edward—Edward—Edward!

But tragedy struck. Daggers pierced deeply into Marguerite’s heart. Edward was seen walking hand in hand with another! The atrocity which scarred her heart, no one could assuage. The sky so blue seemed ordinary and happy flowers now mocked her ravaged heart. Her world, her purpose, her very being, had been strangled by the betrayal of her Edward.

Seeking comfort, Marguerite snuggled in her bed.  With the covers wrapped around her she could hide from the cruelties of life. Sleep came, relief from reality took a sojourn, and  God in heaven glowed with compassion. Bending low, He whispered truth—whispered love—true love.

My beloved child, As long as you look at men, you are trapped. How long have you searched for perfect love and still your heart is parched? Do you not know my name is El Qanna, the Jealous God? I am jealous for you to be Mine… completely. The easy route would give you a foundation built on the fickleness of men. My highest desire is for you to receive all your affirmation from Me. No one loves you as I do. My blood attests to that. I have singled you out. I am making you Mine. The stars and dots from men can’t stick, can’t own you…mustn’t own you. Trust Me with your life. El Qanna has the best for you.  I am your first love. Look to Me and rest. Look to Me and still your heart. Look to Me—and live!

Father watched the glory cover His darling’s face. She had been comforted. She had been treasured. She would rise from the ashes! She would shine again…because of her First Love!

Wow! If that is truth, nothing is! No person can treasure us, comfort us, and love us like the Lord. Beautiful, Margie. Thank you.

Who is like unto the Lord God of Israel? None, no none! How I love Him so for His compassionate mercies extend all the way to where I am! Thank you Robbie!

Oops! Of course, I meant, “If that isn’t truth, nothing is.”
