Come Away with Me
on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice;
for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.”
Song of Solomon 2:14
“Did you see my sunrise this morning? Did you see my flowers? Have you seen a rainbow lately or watched a cute feline meticulously clean himself? Have you ever watched the ducks chasing each other on a lake? Have you been too busy to notice how much I love you—how much I want you to see me…how much I want to see you?”
When Moses led God’s people out of Egypt, the Lord showed them His glory on Mount Sinai. They saw His greatness. They heard His voice. They saw the mountain burn with fire and learned that God speaks with men.
But, they were afraid. “Moses, you tell us what God says.” They didn’t want to talk face to face with God. They thought they would die. How foolish!
They broke Father’s heart. He had extended an invitation. They said no.
Father hasn’t changed. He wants you to notice His goodness to you. He wants to talk with you. He wants to hear you say, “Lord! What a sunrise. What a sunset. The ducks are so funny. My cat is so adorable. Everything’s so beautiful. You made these things for me…because you love…me?”
“Come, my daughter and be at rest with Me. The enemy demands with laws and restrictions. His voice is loud and heavy with condemnation, guilt and shame.
But My voice is quiet. My voice beckons you. It’s a whisper. My voice sets the captive daughter free and brings her to the still waters. You will know My voice for it’s full of comfort, full of strength, full of compassion, full of My promises.
Come. I wait for you. I wish to hear your voice and see your sweet face. Come…just come!
“My beloved spoke, and said to me: ‘Rise up, my love, my fair one,
And come away.’”
Song of Solomon 2:10
