“Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.”

John 12:3

A silly note to my husband in June of 2013

The BHW Award

I know this is an award you have never heard of. It’s rare, and you are sitting on the edge of your chair….wondering!

You don’t remember submitting anything for this award. However, when you said the eternal words, “I do” you became a candidate.

Today I pronounce you Best Husband in the World and bequeath to you this most coveted designation for now and for eternity. Yes, this is one award you can take with you!

Yes, this is silly indeed but I love being silly and the note left a sweet fragrance in my husband’s heart.

A dear sister just told me her story of being approached by a total stranger who spoke God’s peace into her anxious spirit. The scent of God’s love poured over my friend. “Oh, Lord, you see me. You see me right where I am.”  An unknown sister was obedient to the heavenly calling and the aroma of the Holy Spirit soothed a troubled soul.

I have gone into grocery stores and approached shoppers, strangers to me, and asked if they belonged to Jesus. Smiling they answered, “Yes.” I can usually pick them out because there is a perfume of Christ all around them.

Mary of Bethany

A Beka Book

Mary of Bethany anointed the feet of Jesus with precious oil and its fragrance filled the house.  Did all understand? No, but Jesus did, and made a memorial of Mary because of her lingering fragrance of love.

You have a fragrance, beloved—a treasure in your earthen vessel. You are different—uncommon in this world. Open your mouth, open your heart, and allow the Spirit of the Living God to arise in you and leave His fragrance with those He brings along your path.

“For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”

II Corinthians 2:15

Thank you my dear Jo. And you are one with the sweet fragrance of Jesus with all the people you serve in Martin County.

Beautiful analogy, Margie! You’re so right, you can usually spot those who carry the love of Christ. Hope your husband appreciates his award :)

Thank you for your encouragement, dear Carol. Yes, Bob is a very appreciative husband. Furthermore, all of heaven cheered when I said yes because Jesus had said, ” Bob needs help. He needs Margie!” Ha Ha!
