Forsaking All Others
“Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.”
But Jesus says one thing that will not allow me lay this hard one aside.
“It is the Spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.” John 6:63
And so I delve deeper, past the recesses of my mind and allow the Spirit to pull back the curtain that veils my understanding.
He takes me to a little town called Bethlehem, yet a city with a big destiny—its name meaning God’s House of Bread. A small baby boy is wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in an animal’s dirty eating trough. His name is Jesus, the hope of the world, the Living Bread that came down from heaven. The shadow of a cross flickers across his frail form and blood from his birth still lingers. It speaks of things yet to come! For the blood of Jesus was better than that of Abel, better than the blood of bulls and goats. It was enough. It paid the price to release me from all my sin and shame.
And so beloved, the blood of Jesus represents the seat of your life and the bread of his body—your staple.
Jesus must—become your very life. His living Word must—be your every breath. His blood must—become your drink, your heart beat, the core of your being—your reason to live and embrace the destiny that rests upon your head.
By the Word and by the blood of Jesus, demons tremble and flee. They understand the power behind His Word and the victory of His blood. Their greatest fear is that you will wield His Word, His bread and drink His blood.
A new wave of the Spirit is blowing upon the sons and daughters but who will heed His voice? Listen, dear sister. He calls to you.
Forsake all others, my beloved
Make Me your life, your drink, your bread
And we will ride upon the high places
Reaping the harvest and gathering the sheaves
For this is my desire and this is my heart!
